The 2nd Mediterranean CA Conference has been held in Cairo on April 27th and 28th, with the scope to share experience accross the Mediterranean sea and to support democratic trade unions in the Arab world to build and sustain democracy and independent trade unionism across the region.

The ETF considers that the social dialogue and cooperation must contribute to and promote growth, quality jobs, social Europe and sustainable civil aviation policies.
The ETF cannot accept a European civil aviation market based only on business targets, cost reductions and competition.

Following the three day British Airways (BA) cabin crew strike the Unite union has stated that it is committed to achieving a negotiated settlement and is ready to restart dialogue with the company. It reports morale among the strikers as being high and the action as having led to serious disruption of flights during the strike days. The European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF) is encouraging BA management to resume negotiations with the union and seek a settlement that meets with both parties’ concerns.
