Joint CANSO - ETF Conference on FUNCTIONAL AIRSPACE BLOCKS Palermo, Sicily 17-18 September 2004

The Palermo conference (jointly organized by CANSO and ETF with the support of the EC) brought together 150 participants representing Air Navigation Service Providers and the Trade Unions and Professional Organisations. This conference was a unique occasion that allowed employers trade union and other representatives to discuss the possible impact of Functional Airspace Blocks (FABs) and to look at some of the opportunities and threats posed by the development of FABs. It allowed social partners to begin to define what they mean by the “bottom up approach” to the development of the Single European Sky.
